Digital Extremes took the stage at TennoCon to announce a massive wave of upcoming content for Soulframe, the studio’s highly anticipated fantasy action RPG. Currently in its early access phase known as Preludes, the game is set to receive a major update later this year titled the Warsongs Fable, which will introduce a powerful new Pact and a variety of gameplay additions.
Exploring Redemption in Alca
The Warsongs Fable aims to expand on Soulframe’s core narrative themes. Creative Director Geoff Crookes shared insights into the creative direction of the upcoming content, highlighting that the game’s storytelling revolves around redemption and salvation rather than pure destruction.
According to Crookes, growth in the world of Alca requires a balance of coexistence, despair, and fear. The team hopes these relatable emotional arcs will resonate deeply with both existing players and those discovering the game for the first time.
Tempest Bayor and the Voice of Ben Starr
The update will also introduce a formidable new rival named Tempest Bayor, voiced by actor Ben Starr. Bayor is a red-armed Envoy who has turned his back on the world to align himself with the invading Ode, setting up a major conflict for players.
Wolf Mounts and New Boss Encounters
One of the most anticipated quality-of-life features coming to the game is the introduction of mounts. Since players must currently traverse the massive map of Alca on foot, the addition of wolf mounts will greatly improve exploration. This new mount system is scheduled for testing later this year.
Additionally, players will face a terrifying new boss known as the Medicant Reinbreaker. This mounted adversary will force players to defeat the rider in order to free the steed beneath them.
